Manchester United have reached an agreement with Atalanta for the transfer of Rasmus Hoilund for a total of £72 million. According to reports from English media including the BBC.

Talks were intense on Saturday about the payment structure. Which is expected to be at 72 million pounds with documents to be finalized overnight.

The Denmark international was an unused substitute in Atalanta’s 3-1 friendly win at Bournemouth on Saturday. And shook hands with his teammates as if saying goodbye.

The 20-year-old striker has made it clear he wants to join his boyhood support team, United. And ready to agree a 5-year contract with the option to extend for another year.

Hoilund, who scored nine goals in Serie A last season, has become the Red Devils’ No. 1 target after dropping interest in Spurs’ Harry Kane UFABET

Erik ten Hag’s side initially made an oral offer of £42.8m plus £8.5m in bonuses. But Atalanta wanted more.

United have refused to pay the £86m requested by Atalanta due to financial regulatory restrictions.

Ultimately, United were able to agree a £72m fee with Atalanta. Which would be an initial £64m plus £8m in bonuses.

He will become the club’s third new signing of the summer. Following Mason Mount from Chelsea for £55m and Andre Onana from Inter Milan for £47.2m.

With Anthony Martial’s injury, Ten Hag needs a new striker to strengthen his offensive line. And his target was clearly Hoilund.

Hoilund scored 10 goals in 34 games for Atalanta in all competitions last season. And six goals in six games for Denmark.
